Touchless Deodorizers: What are they?
Touchless deodorization (TD) is a technology that allows you to control your body odor through the use of invisible sensors placed near your skin. TD works by detecting sweat and other bodily fluids such as blood, urine or feces. These fluids then react with chemicals inside the unit, which cause them to emit a certain amount of heat when exposed to air. When these chemicals reach a specific temperature threshold, the unit emits a low-frequency sound that alerts the user of their presence.
The most common types of touchless deodorizers include those that use sweat or perspiration to detect odors; those that rely on blood or urine to detect odors; and those that use both methods. Some models have built-in sensors so users don’t need to wear anything at all.
How do I get one?
There are several companies that make touchless deodorizers. They range from inexpensive units that cost around $30 to expensive ones that cost up to over $200. There are also different models available depending on what type of smell you want to reduce. For example, some models work best with smells like smoke, while others work better with smells like food or perfume. If you’re looking for a cheap option, check out Amazon’s selection here .
Touchless deodorizers are a great way to help control body odor in a more subtle way than an antiperspirant or a scented deodorant. Plus, they’re convenient and compact enough to use anywhere.
NOTE: Even though some of the units come with adhesive strips or magnets for mounting to your shower wall, you should not get these units wet. Make sure you keep them away from any moisture!
How do I use one?
Most touchless deodorizers are activated by motion or heat so all you need to do is place them in a room and walk inside. Most of the time, they’re good at detecting human body heat from quite a distance. If you’re using the type that requires you to wear a small monitor, just attach it to your clothing (usually near the armpit), activate it, and you’ll be good to go.
NOTE: If the unit is taking a while to turn on, make sure you’re standing still. The sensor needs time to detect that you’re not moving in order to turn on.
Once the unit is activated, it’ll usually play a pleasant sound to let you know it’s working. Some units also have an indicator light that lets you know when it’s active. These lights are usually either red or blue depending on the brand. After a few minutes, the unit will turn itself off in order to conserve battery life.
What are some common features?
Most touchless deodorizers are the same in terms of features. They all require that you attach a small monitor (the unit) near your armpit. You can either stick it to your shirt using adhesive strips, or clip it on with a clothespin. Once you’ve attached it, activate it using the button on the back and you’re good to go! Most units come with around 4 to 8 hours of battery life, which should last you the entire day.
These units use magnetic technology combined with motion detectors to detect your body heat. As you move about, the devices detects your presence and activates. Once you stop moving, it shuts off a few minutes later.
What are some tips?
It’s best to place the unit at the edge of your clothing, as close to your armpit as you can. This will allow the sensors to detect your heat more efficiently.
Make sure you activate the device before you put on your shirt. The adhesive sometimes isn’t strong enough to keep it in place if you try putting it on after the fact!
Some people have complained that the adhesive strips don’t work. If this is the case for you, try using a hair dryer to warm up and loosen the adhesive. Then try reattaching it. This should help it to stay in place.
Most units have an indicator light that blinks when the battery is low. Make sure to keep an eye on this so you don’t get caught with a non-working device at work or school!
If your monitor has a clip, try clipping it to the upper part of your pants. This will prevent the monitor from moving around and activating itself every few seconds.
Also make sure you turn your monitor off when you’re done using it. It’s best to take the battery out entirely, but at least turn the monitor itself off to extend the battery life.
If your battery is draining too quickly, there may be a faulty unit. Try getting in touch with the manufacturer to get a replacement.
The adhesive on my monitor is coming off.
What can I do?
There are a few things you can do to keep your monitor in place. Start by warming up the adhesive strips. You can do this by using a hair dryer to gently warm them up. Try to attach the unit once again and see if it helps.
Another trick that has worked for some is to use a small amount of clear nail polish on the edges of the adhesive strips. This will help the strips to stay in place long enough for you to get to your destination. However, you will still need to replace or recharge the battery as soon as possible.
My monitor is beeping.
What does this mean?
First, make sure that you haven’t left the monitor on while it’s not attached to your armpit. This can drain the battery and may cause it to beep at you.
The beeping may also indicate that the battery is almost dead. If this is the case, you should immediately replace or recharge the battery.
It’s also possible that the unit is malfunctioning. Try to get in touch with the manufacturer to see if you can replace the device. Some manufacturers may even offer you a refund if you aren’t satisfied with their product.
My office has a metal detector.
What should I do?
You may get around this by tucking the monitor under your shirt instead of under your arm. This will keep the detector from picking it up. You can also take off your shirt and stuff it under your pants instead.
If you’re worried about someone seeing you, you can try wrapping a jacket or coat around your waist before going through the detector. Just make sure the monitor doesn’t fall out!
It’s also a good idea to turn the monitor off before going through the detector. This will ensure that it doesn’t accidentally get turned on in your pocket or armpit.
I’m attending a concert, how can I listen to what’s happening on stage?
There are a few ways to go about this. You could try to sit as close to the front as possible and point the monitor up at the stage. The closer you are to the stage, the better your reception should be.
Another option is to use a radio instead of an armpit monitor. Then, you can listen to any local radio stations and the quality should be decent. You can even use a TV if you want! Just try not to block too many people’s view if you go this route.
Still, the best way to listen in is to buy a ticket for the event. That way, you can actually see what’s going on without any technical difficulties!
Tips and FAQ
Can I leave my monitor on all the time?
It’s not recommended to keep your monitor on for extended periods of time. The battery will drain much quicker and could potentially damage the device. If you absolutely need to do this, then make sure to keep a close eye on the battery life. Try to turn it off as much as you can.
Can I use my armpit monitor to play games?
Yes, but you will not be able to play them for long periods of time. Since you only have so much space in your armpit, the response time may not be the best. Also, you will not have as much storage for your games. Keep in mind that the battery will drain quicker the more you play.
How can I contact the manufacturer?
Most manufacturers have a support line that you can call if you ever need help with your monitor. Just look on the box or in the manual for their phone number. You could also try visiting their website as well to see if they offer an email address.
Can I share my monitor with someone else?
Yes, you can share your monitor with another individual as long as they don’t mind armpit hair. If you’d like to go this route, it’s best to get a larger model so both of your armpits have enough room. Be aware that the battery life will drain quicker and both of you will have to squeeze in a tight space.
My monitor is broken, where can I get it repaired?
Most department stores that sell these monitors should have someone who can fix them. If all else fails, you can always contact the manufacturer and see if they can help. It never hurts to ask!
Remember, armpit monitors can be a fun way to store and listen to your music! Just be sure to read the manual before using it and keep the volume low so you don’t deafen anyone.
