Best TomTom GPS System?
The most popular choice among consumers is the tomtom gps unit. There are various features and advantages of these devices. However, there are other options available too which might suit your needs better.
One of the main reasons why consumers choose one device over another is their budget. If you have a limited budget, then it’s always good to consider alternatives.
Another reason could be that you want to save money on buying a new device every year or two. You may prefer to buy a single device rather than multiple ones. Another reason could be that you don’t like all the features offered by one particular product and would prefer something else instead.
There are many different types of gps devices available in the market today. Some of them offer a wide range of features while others only provide basic functionality. You will need to decide which type of device suits your requirements best.
Some of the major differences between the different kinds of gps devices include:
1) Size and Weight : Most consumer electronic products come with small size and weight which makes them easy to carry around.
However, some of them are bulky and not easy to carry.
2) Battery Life : Some devices come with powerful batteries that can last for several hours.
Others may last for a shorter period of time.
3) Display and Resolution : Higher display resolution means that the images and texts will appear crystal clear on the screen.
Low resolution, on the other hand, tends to produce images and texts which appears blurred when viewed.
4) Portability : For handheld devices, it is a breeze to carry them around since they come with a compact design.
However, for some devices it may not be easy to carry them around especially if you’re doing some heavy outdoor activities like backpacking or hiking.
5) Operating System : Some devices are compatible only with certain operating systems.
For instance, while iPhone or iPad users can download a compatible app for their device, android users may have to look elsewhere.
6) Satellites and Maps : Different devices may come with varying numbers of pre-installed satellites.
Also, the quality of maps that are provided can also vary from one device to another.
With so many options available today, it can be difficult to decide which product you should buy. It is upon you to decide which one to settle with.
However, we have done the research on some of the best gps devices available in the market today.
1) Garmin eTrex 10 Handheld GPS
If you’re looking for something simple and easy to use, this is the perfect product for you. This device is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. It also comes with preloaded topographic maps so you’ll never get lost.
The 2.2 inch display screen is quite easy to read and see.
It comes with a USB cable and a battery so you can start using it right out of the box. eTrex 10 does not come with pre-installed routable maps but you can always install them on your own. All you have to do is connect the device to your PC using the USB cable and transfer the files from your computer onto the SD card provided with the device.
However, this process can be a little tedious and it is recommended that you only do it if you have basic knowledge about operating a PC.
Garmin eTrex 10 is not only useful for hiking and outdoor activities. It can also come in handy when travelling to a new place especially if you don’t have mobile data connection or Wi-Fi.
If you’re looking for a simple device which allows you to see maps and routes clearly, this is the product for you. With a price of only $99.95, I highly recommend it.
2) Garmin Oregon 700T GPS
If you’re looking for a top of the line handheld GPS device which can also handle your outdoor activities, this is the perfect product for you. With 2.6 inches display screen and a weight of just 6.3 ounces, this product is extremely portable and easy to carry around.
You can bring it anywhere without feeling too burdened.
The integrated camera can capture still images and record videos which you can later share with your friends and family. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery makes this product extremely reliable and convenient to use. You can plug it into a car lighter or a regular wall outlet to charge it.
Oregon 700T comes with pre-installed routable maps so there’s nothing for you to worry about. However, you must purchase separate memory cards in order to use this feature. It comes with a 4 Gigabyte SD memory card but it may not be enough if you decide to store a lot of images and videos.
All in all, this is a great product for the price. If you’re looking for something lightweight, easy to operate and portable, this is the product for you. With a price of $499.99, I highly recommend it.
3) Garmin Oregon 600 Handheld GPS
This device is no different from the 700T. It has the same dimensions, weight and price as the latter and they both come with similar features. However, there are a few things that make this product a little bit inferior compared to the 700T.
First of all, the display screen is not as big and the battery life is not as long lasting. Second of all, the rechargeable lithium-ion battery cannot be replaced so once it dies you’ll have to throw the whole device away.
These two things may not be a problem for some but if you’re looking for something a little bit more practical and long lasting, then Oregon 700T is the way to go.
