Tinker toys begin as a molding of plastic. Men and women measure out the amount of plastic needed then squish it into tin molds. The large chunks of soft plastic are then cut into little pieces and sorted by color. Men and women have to be extremely careful when doing this task. Even one wrong cut can ruin the entire mold!
Once the sorting is done, the plastic pieces are sent to another department to become the molds that will create the little parts of the toys. This machine uses heat and pressure to form the plastic into these small building pieces.
Then, an assembly line begins. People put together all the parts needed for this machine. Then more people place all these separately pieces into an oven. Twenty minutes later, the plastic is ready to be taken out of the oven. Then other people have to quickly grab pieces and put them into bins.
These bins are then sent to yet another line where other people place the pieces into plastic bags.
The bags are weighed and counted and then sent off to a packing department. Here, other people put the bags with the correct toys inside into larger cardboard boxes. Large machines can then stack and pack these boxes.
Once they are packed, someone at the front of the warehouse manually takes the right number of boxes to other people who place them on trucks. These trucks send the boxes to toy stores all over the world!
