The best running belt is one which provides maximum support during your run. There are various types of belts available in the market. Some are made from different materials such as leather, neoprene or even plastic. These belts provide less support than others but they do offer better comfort and durability. However, there is no need to spend a fortune when it comes to buying the right running belt for yourself!

There are many factors that go into choosing the best running belt for yourself. The most important factor is comfort. Another thing to consider is whether or not your body type requires a specific kind of running belt.

The first type of running belt that we will look at is the waist pouch. This type of belt is designed to be worn around the waist and it can be adjusted to fit any size waist. It hangs down and the runner can put their phone into the pouch which is usually quite large. The pouch can either be closed using a zipper or with a Velcro strip.

The advantage of this kind of belt is that it holds the phone very securely and will not let it bounce around while you are running. However, there is the disadvantage that it can be quite bulky especially if you are trying to put your keys or some other item in the pouch as well.

These types of belts are often preferred by people who run during their commute to and from work.

2. Armband

Another common type of running belt is the armband. These are designed to be worn around the arm, usually on the bicep, and they hold the phone in place against the body. They have an opening for the earphone cable to come out and sometimes even a little pocket for an ID or some cash. They are very light and do not weigh you down at all while you are running.

The disadvantage is that they are not quite as secure and the phone can sometimes bounce around if you are running on uneven ground or on a particularly bumpy road.

These types of belts are quite popular since they can carry a lot more than just your phone. They can accommodate keys, ID, credit cards and even a small bottle of water. The disadvantage is that since they sit higher up on the body, the earphone cable can be at a bit of an awkward angle.

These types of belts are preferred by people who like to run in more urban areas where a dangling belt could easily be snagged on a tree root or accidentally grabbed by someone passing by.

4. Water Belt

The last type of running belt that we will look at is the water belt. These belts are designed to hold water bottles on the exterior of them. It is essentially a fanny pack that has a built in water bottle pouch on the front of it.

The disadvantage is that they are quite large and sometimes people find them a little too cumbersome. They can also be a bit annoying if you don’t like the feeling of something strapped around your waist.

My Recommendation

So which one did I decide to go with?

Well, I actually own two running belts. I have one of the waist packs that I use for emergencies or shorter runs where I know my phone and house key will be sufficient. For longer or multi-purpose runs, I use an armband since it holds my phone, credit cards and ID along with my car key and it is all held securely against my body.

I’m sure you could get by with just one of these products but I found that having two different ones suited my needs better. Let’s just say the wife was very happy that I only needed one Christmas present last year.
