Best Pool Noodles: What are they?

Pool noodles are the most popular type of exercise equipment used for swimming or other water sports. They have been around since ancient times and were originally made from bamboo. Today, there are many types of pool noodles available such as rubber, plastic, foam, and even metal. Some pools use only one kind of noodle while others may have multiple kinds.

The main purpose of pool noodles is to provide buoyancy to your body during the swim. A large number of different materials are used for making them, but all of these materials must meet certain specifications before they can be called “pool noodles.” These include their weight, thickness, flexibility, durability, and so forth.

If any one material fails to meet its requirements it will not work properly in a pool.

Types of Pool Noodles

There are two basic types of pool noodles: rubber and plastic. Rubber pool noodles are usually thicker than plastic ones. Both types of pool noodles have their advantages and disadvantages, but they both serve the same purpose in swimming pools.

Here’s a quick overview of each type:

Rubber Pool Noodles – Rubber pool noodles are generally thinner than other kinds, which makes them less likely to cause injury when being swum with. They are also softer than other types of pool noodles and don’t hurt quite as much if someone falls on one. The downside to rubber noodles is they don’t offer as much buoyancy as other kinds, which means a swimmer has to rely more on arm strength to keep his or her head above water.

Also, if they are not stored properly they will eventually dry up and crack, making them impossible to use.

Plastic Pool Noodles – While plastic pool noodles aren’t as flexible as rubber ones, they are still soft enough to provide a little protection if someone falls on one. They are generally thicker than other kinds, which means they offer more buoyancy than other types. Due to this added buoyancy, pool noodles of this kind require less arm strength to keep swimmers afloat and can be used for a wide range of swimming abilities.

Unlike rubber noodles, they don’t dry up or crack as easily when not in use. However, if they are not stored properly they can warp, making them difficult to use and less effective in the water.

One of the best things about pool noodles is their ability to come in a wide range of sizes. These sizes range from tiny (child size) all the way up to much larger than an average human (jumbo size). This allows them to be used by people of all ages, from small children all the way up to adults.

Noodle sizes also have their advantages and disadvantages just like the two types mentioned above.

As you can see, there are many different kinds, types, and sizes of pool noodles available on the market today. Thanks to these choices, everyone is able to find a pool noodle that is perfect for their individual needs. With the wide range of sizes, flexibility, and other features available, everyone is able to find a pool noodle that will provide them with hours of enjoyment both in and out of the water.
