Best Nintendo Switch Controllers: What are they?

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller (Switch) is a new type of controllers designed by Nintendo. They have been released since March 2017 and it’s available only in Japan, North America, Europe and Australia. It comes with two Joy-Con controllers which can be used separately or together. These controllers come with built-in sensors that detect your movements and translate them into game actions such as shooting, jumping etc..

The Switch Pro Controller is very popular among gamers because of its unique design. It is made out of a soft touch plastic material and features a bumpy texture. Its size measures approximately 10 inches long, 5 inches wide and 2.5 inches tall.

It weighs around 1 pound.

The Switch Pro Controller is compatible with all games that support the Wii U GamePad. You can play both local multiplayer and online multiplayer games using these controllers. The Switch Pro Controller also includes a headphone jack so you can listen to music while playing your favorite video game.

What makes the Switch Pro Controller different from other Nintendo controllers?

The first thing you will notice is that the Nintendo Pro Controller is quite bigger and heavier than others. This makes it uncomfortable for kids to use. As a result, its primary audience is teenagers and adults.

The second thing you’ll notice is that it has a D-Pad and traditional ABXY buttons unlike other Nintendo controllers which have the Wii style button alignment. While this isn’t a major selling point, it’s still nice to have the option.

The third thing you will notice is that it doesn’t have the start and select buttons. As far as I know, there aren’t many games that use these buttons. So removing them didn’t cause any inconvenience.

If there are any games that require these buttons then you can simply press down on the d-pad instead.

The fourth thing that stands out is the new charging port. With this controller, you simply plug it into the Switch itself to charge it up. There isn’t a separate charging cable that you have to keep up with.

The downside is that you can only charge it by the Switch. There is no way to use it while charging like you can with the Wiimote and the Nintendo 3DS.

How does the Nintendo Pro Controller compare to the Joy-Con controllers?

The Joy-Con controllers are great for quick multiplayer games and social gatherings. The Nintendo Pro Controller excels at extended gaming sessions and online multiplayer.

The Joy-Con controllers work wirelessly from a distance of around 20′. You can use just one or pair them together for some games. They are incredibly light and compact so you can easily carry them around when not in use.

The Nintendo Pro Controller requires a wired connection and doesn’t have as long of a range. It’s best to keep the Switch Dock or the Console close by when using it. Also, if you have a lot of people playing, you will need to use multiple Nintendo Pro controllers.

The Joy-Con controllers come with a grip so you can use them like traditional Wii Remotes. They also have motion controls and built-in accelerometers and gyroscopes for motion controlled games. If you detach the controllers from the grip, you can use them as wireless traditional game controllers.

Best Nintendo Switch Controllers - PURCH MARKETPLACE

The Nintendo Pro Controller only comes with the controller itself. You will need to purchase a grip if you want to use it in the traditional manner. The buttons and controls are also much closer together than the Joy-Con controllers which makes it easier for adult gamers with larger hands to use for longer periods of time.

Which should you buy, the Nintendo Pro Controller or the Joy-Con controllers?

If you have cash to burn and want the best of everything, get both!

I mostly play games online where my gamepad gives me an advantage over my opponents when it comes to aiming. I also use the extra buttons for macroing in MMO’s such as World of Warcraft.

If I had to pick just one, it would be the Nintendo Pro Controller. The only time I find myself reaching for a Joy-Con is when I am playing tennis or golf in 1-2-Switch!
