Best Night Vision Baby Monitors: What are they?
There are various types of night vision devices available in the market today. They come in different shapes and sizes, but all of them have one thing in common – they’re able to see at night. Most of these devices work by emitting light from their own internal batteries or external sources such as LED lights or even lasers. Some models may also include other features like motion sensors, microphones, and so forth.
The main advantage of using a night vision device over regular cameras is that it allows you to see in the dark. You can use these devices to check your house, your car, or any other place where there’s no natural light source. These devices are usually less expensive than a camera and allow you to see what might otherwise be missed due to darkness.
The disadvantage of course is that they don’t provide full color images. That means that they won’t show you everything clearly, but that doesn’t mean they’re useless! If you want to get a better idea of what’s going on around you without having to turn on the lights, then a night vision camera is probably the way to go.
How do I choose which type of night vision camera will fit my needs?
This really depends on what it is that you want to use the night vision camera for. For example, if you want to keep an eye on your baby while they’re sleeping then you’ll need a camera that has good motion detection software and an alert system. However, if you want to do some night hunting then you’ll want something with a longer range and more clarity. Below, you’ll find a list of some of the best night cameras on the market and what they’re best for.
1. The Covert Night Vision Camera by Sightmark
This camera is great for surveillance since it offers a wide view and can capture movement up to 65 feet away in total darkness. It does this by using a super sensitive 0.5 lux rating so that even the smallest amount of light can be seen on its black and white monitor.
This means that if something happens in your baby’s room, then you’ll be able to see it without having to turn on the lights and completely wake them up.
This camera records directly to a micro SD card (up to 32 GB) so you don’t have to worry about downloading anything to view your photos. Of course, if you do want to view the photos on your phone or laptop you can just take out the memory card and put it into those devices. The camera comes with a timer that allows you to program it to turn on and record at specific times.
This is great if you want to record and keep a record of what’s going on in your yard or driveway.
The downsides of the Sightmark are its short power cord and low resolution. The short cord means that you’ll need to have the camera placed relatively close to an electrical outlet if you want to keep it charged at all times. The low resolution means that you might not be able to identify the faces of certain people at a distance.
This isn’t really a problem if you’re using it for surveillance in your home, but could be a problem if you’re trying to record what’s going on outside your home.
Overall, this is a great camera for people who just want to keep an eye on their babies while they sleep or want to keep track of the people coming and going in their home or yard.
2. The NV510LVP IR Mini Dome Camera by Lorex
This camera has a lot of the same features as the Sightmark, but with a slightly better design. It can capture images in extremely low light up to a staggering 0.00015 lux (that’s nearly complete darkness).
It can also detect motion up to 20 feet away which is far better than most night vision cameras on the market today.
The camera contains 0.5 megapixels which is extremely high resolution for a night vision camera. It can easily record a person’s face from over 20 feet away.
This makes it easy to identify anyone that might be trespassing on your property at night. You can also use this camera during the day since its images are in full color.
With the Lorex, you have the option of using an 8 GB or a 16 GB micro SD card for storing images and videos. The downside to this camera is that it doesn’t come with a storage card, so you’ll have to buy one before you can use it. It also doesn’t have a screen to preview your images or record videos.
You’ll have to take the memory card out and put it in a reader to see what your camera has captured.
3. The Night Owl Security NC600B
This a full-fledged video security system with some night vision capabilities. It comes with a 4 channel DVR that can record at 720P or 1080H. It can hold up to 4 cameras but it only comes with 1 so you’ll have to buy the other 3 (or more) separately.
It has all the features you’d expect in a conventional security system such as motion detection, audio detection, etc.
The resolution of the camera is a mediocre 0.3 megapixels which isn’t too bad, however you’re going to have to get really close (around 20 feet) to see what someone’s face looks like. The design of this camera is also quite different from the others.
It looks like a common security camera you’d see on a bank or a store but with added night vision capabilities built-in.
All in all, this is a pretty good camera that comes with everything you need to create your own security system. It can also operate on rechargeable batteries so you don’t have to worry about finding an AC outlet to plug it into. The only real downside is the resolution and the design of the camera which might arouse suspicion.
Which One is For You?
Out of the three cameras, I feel that the Sightmark is the best one simply because it’s very portable and has an extremely high resolution. You can use it as a nanny cam or just to keep an eye on things while you’re not home. It can also take video recordings so you don’t have to worry about finding a place to put still photos.
If you’re looking for a more traditional security system (with cameras), then Night Owl is for you. It comes with everything you need to secure your home or business. The only downside is the low resolution of the cameras.
Still, if that doesn’t bother you then this is a great buy.
The NV510LVP is a good all-around camera that can both take images and video (with the ability to record) as well as night vision capabilities. It also has a high resolution meaning you can clearly identify faces at a distance. This is good for those who need to know exactly who is on their property at all times.
The only downside is that it doesn’t come with any memory so you’ll have to buy a memory card and a card reader before you can start using it.
Whichever camera you choose, you’ll be able to feel secure in your home or office knowing that there are surveillance systems in place. Remember that these cameras are just an added layer of security. They’re never a substitute for proper security such as solid door locks.
