Even though there are smaller models, they still take quite a bit of room. If you do not have enough space in your garage or workshop, then this might not be the right tool for you.
2) Have Limited Features – Compared to other miter saws, best miter saw stands do not have a lot of features.

I think the best miter saw stand for your money is the…
There isn’t just one best miter saw stand in my opinion, but rather the best miter saw stand for your money. This is because some of them have features that appeal to me and others don’t.
I bought the first one based primarily on price, I had a limited budget at the time so I got what I could afford at the time. I had a job that required the use of a miter saw stand so I didn’t even have time to do any comparison shopping.
When I got the job done I started researching what other models were available.
I couldn’t believe the price difference between my cheap stand and some of the higher quality ones, there must be something wrong with them right?
I kept researching until I finally decided on another model that was still well below my budget. There was no way I was going to spend big bucks on a miter saw stand after just spending so much on the saw itself.
I finally got that one and it has been working out very well for me, although I have considered one of the fancy ones with the rolling cage and all the other stuff. But then again it doesn’t seem necessary since my cheap stand has been working out just fine.
I use it mainly for cross cuts and the rare miter, although I do use it to support the saw when making bevel cuts. I can’t imagine needing to do this with any regularity, but I guess with my limited experience in this matter anything is possible.
I made a miter saw station that holds the stand and the saw at the perfect height for me and my work area. I made it out of wood and it has wheels so I can move it out of the way when I am not using it.
I love my miter saw, I usually have it set up next to my table saw and stacked with 4′ pieces of wood. I find this is the easiest way to change out my wood pieces in between making cuts since I don’t have a lot of room to lay them down. It also saves me time since I am right there already.
I also made a simple rolling cart with small wheels that fit between the slats on my table saw. This holds all my cross cut and other smaller blades, measuring tools and other small items I need for using the saw. It makes things easier and more convenient for me.
These items also make great gifts for anybody that has a miter saw, they will really appreciate the extra storage. You can get all these items on Amazon or at your local hardware store.

BEST MITER SAW STANDS
There are basically three types of miter saw stands commonly available. They are:
The folding stand: These have a single column that holds the saw and has a hinged base that can be folded up to hold the saw upright for transport. The column is about 3-4 feet high, allowing the saw to be positioned at a comfortable working height when opened up. The main benefit is that they are the only type that can be folded up for convenient transport in a car. The major downside is the column takes up a lot of space when folded up, so if you have limited storage space this may not be the stand for you.
Folding stands come in two basic types. The cheaper type has the column and base as one piece. The whole column just folds up against itself. The more expensive type has an detachable base, so the column can be stored separately. This type of stand is much more stable since the base is about 3 feet across, but takes up a lot more room in transport.
The other two types do not fold up, so they take up a little more storage space.
The single-leg stand: This has a single column that holds the saw, but instead of having a folding base, it has a single large leg that can be kicked down to the ground. It is more stable than a folding stand and since it only has one leg to transport, it takes up less room when folded up. The major downside is that the leg makes it more difficult to position on uneven terrain. The three-legged stand: This is the most stable stand since it has three large legs for support. The legs are still easy to position on uneven terrain, since you just have to lift one end at a time.
This type of stand does not fold up, so they all take up more storage space than a folding stand.
In choosing what stand to buy, you first need to decide if your miter saw is going to be used mainly at a jobsite or in your garage. If it is going to a jobsite, then portability is probably the most important factor. Folding stands are the obvious choice since they are easy to transport in your vehicle and store in your tool shed at the jobsite.
If you intend to use this in your home garage, then the choice is not as obvious. Even though they take up more storage space, some people like the added stability of a three-legged stand. Also, you must take into consideration the footprint of the stand in your garage. A three-legged stand will almost take up as much floor space as a folding stand, since the legs need to be at least as far apart as the base of the stand. It is not unusual to have a two car garage, so you do not want to dedicate half of it to your miter saw stand.
The main thing that makes a stand expensive is the base and how easy it is to transport. The more expensive stands have an all-welded steel base that is literally bullet proof. This type of stand is rock solid, even on uneven terrain and can easily withstand a lot of force. There really isn’t any reason to go with anything else since cheaper knock offs cannot come even close to the stability and rigidity of these stands.
The other major factor is transportability. Folding stands are the obvious light weight choice here. The only sacrifice is the slightly less stability and rigidity of the stand due to using a bolt together construction instead of an all-welded base, however this is still more than sufficient for most people’s needs.
The thing you really have to watch out for are knock offs . There are a lot of cheap folding stands out there that look like the real thing, but really aren’t. These stands will literally fall apart under any serious use. I have seen these types of stands at big box stores and online discounters. Unless you are buying directly from the manufacturer or an authorized reseller, you really need to do your homework on what you are buying.
I recently bought a knock off myself when I was in a pinch and it ended up doing more harm than good. I needed a stand quickly so I could complete a job and the store that I was at had two choices, the real deal or a knock off. Even though the price was only $15 less, the extra money was well worth having a stable stand that is still going strong two years later.
One last thing to look for is whether or not the stand has built in wheels. You really should just get a stand with them, they make the saw so much easier to move around. Having to lift it up every time you need to move it is such a pain and will most likely result in you dropping and/or damaging your saw.
If you are going to be transporting your miter saw stand to multiple jobsites then you should really look into getting a wheeled bag for it.
