The most common type of infrared heaters are those which use light emitting diodes (LED) or LEDs. These types of heaters have been around since the 1980’s. As these water molecules vibrate, they collide with each other and transfer their kinetic energy to other molecules.

The net result is that nearby objects get warm.

What Are the Benefits of Using Infrared Heaters?

There are many benefits that come with using infrared heaters. Perhaps the most obvious one is that you do not need to use electricity to make them work. As you most likely know, traditional heating units operate using electricity. During periods of extreme cold, electricity consumption increases significantly. If everyone had a bunch of electric heaters running all day in their homes, it could potentially cause blackouts or brownouts in local areas if demand outweighs supply.

This is not a problem with infrared heaters though. These types of heaters do not require any electricity to run. As a result, they do not increase electricity usage at all. While this may not seem like a big deal in the summertime, it can be a life-saver during the winter when temperatures plummet and people rely on electric heaters to keep their homes warm.

Another great thing about infrared heaters is that they are extremely safe to use. Unlike fireplaces or other types of space heaters, you do not have to worry about your house burning down or causing a chimney fire. Infrared heaters do not get nearly as hot as other types of heaters, so there is no need to worry about your pets or children getting burned if they touch the heater.

The main disadvantage of using an infrared heater is that they are a bit more expensive than other types of heating units. This is because these types of heaters use more sophisticated technology to make them work. Due to the high cost of manufacturing these types of heaters, many sellers jack up the price way above what it should be. If you do not have the time to do research and shop around, you will end up overpaying significantly for an infrared heater. You can avoid this by comparing prices online and only buying from reputable sellers.

There are three main types of infrared heaters that you need to know about. They include radiant, convection, and fan-assisted. Each one works a little differently, so you will have to decide which one is right for you.
