Diaper Bag Reviews: What are the Best Diaper Bags?

There are many different types of diapers available today. There are disposable diapers, prefolds, reusable cloth diapers, and all kinds of other diaper options. Some parents prefer one type over another or want to try out some new styles.

So what’s the best diaper bag for you?

That depends on your needs and preferences!

The best diaper bag will fit your baby’s size and shape perfectly. If you’re looking for something that’ll hold a few extra items, like wipes or formula, then consider using a larger diaper bag. You may even need to buy two smaller ones if they don’t fit properly in the bigger one. A large diaper bag will usually cost more than a small one because it takes up more room inside the car.

If you have a boy, you might want to look at a backpack style diaper bag instead of a regular diaper bag. These are great for carrying around your son’s toys and clothes while still being able to access them easily when needed. They’re also great for traveling with since they can be taken in and out of the car without having to remove everything from the backseat first.

You can find a great array of diaper bags at your local Babies R Us store. You’ll be able to find out what works best for you and your family during your next visit there.

Where to Buy a Designer Bag on a Budget

Since some designer bags can cost thousands of dollars, you may be wondering if it’s even worth buying a bag that expensive since you know you can get a cheaper bag at a department store that is just as nice. While this is true, there are still some definite benefits to buying an authentic designer bag. Here are some things to consider when deciding whether or not you want to splurge on a luxury item.

Benefits of Buying an Authentic Designer Bag

You know the bag is going to be well made since the brand already has a good reputation.

If you buy the bag in person at a boutique, you can also take it home that day since there is no waiting for shipping time.

You can get some great compliments on your bag depending on which brand you choose.

If you buy a pre-owned authentic bag, you can still save quite a bit of money and get a designer bag that is nearly new.

If you ever decide to sell your bag, you will get most of your money back.

Drawbacks of Buying an Authentic Designer Bag

If you buy a bag that costs several thousand dollars, you may feel too guilty to use it since it is quite pricy.

You won’t have as much room in your budget for other things like food and utilities.

If you buy a fake designer bag, you won’t get the benefits listed above.

If you buy a fake bag and try to sell it, you won’t be able to get much money back since most people can tell the difference between a fake and real bag.

If you aren’t interested in buying a brand new authentic bag but still want to save money, buying a pre-owned authentic bag is a great way to go. Most department stores that sell designer bags usually have a section for used or pre-owned bags.

Tips for Buying a Pre-Owned Designer Bag

Just like when you are buying a used car, you definitely want to inspect the bag before you buy it. Here are some things to look for:

Check all of the stitching to make sure none of it is coming undone.

Make sure all of the hardware is in good condition with no rust or dents.

Open and close the zippers to make sure they work easily.

Check all of the pockets to make sure they aren’t coming undone or have holes in them.

Look at the lining to see if it is starting to come undone or has stains or discoloration.

Most stores will allow you to do an exchange if you get home and don’t like the bag so don’t feel embarrassed about doing this. There is no way you can tell how well a bag is made just by looking at it so you need to actually inspect the bag before you make your final decision.

How Much Should You Pay For A Designer Bag?

Prices for used or pre-owned designer bags vary from store to store so do some price comparisons before you make a purchase. However, you can get some general idea of how much you should pay for a bag by following these steps.

Determine the bag’s current value. This is probably the hardest part of the process and you may have to do a little research online to come up with an accurate number. Just remember that there are lots of fake bags out there so you have to be careful when searching since you don’t want to count those as real. Once you get the item number for the bag you want, go to eBay and type in that item number in the search bar. This should bring up all the listings for that bag.

Now you can see what other people are selling the bag for. If you still aren’t getting any hits, try searching for a similar bag with a reliable manufacturer since not all bags are listed. For instance, let’s say I want to find out the value of a Coach Madison Wallet on eBay. If I just type in Madison Wallet, I get a whole bunch of hits but nothing that is my specific bag. However, if I search for a “Coach Baxter Wallet” I get a much smaller list but one of the results is my bag! Now when I click on the link and take a look at the seller’s other items, I can see how much they are selling that bag for and decide if that seems like a fair price or not. (Also, make sure to factor in the cost of shipping when you are comparing prices since not all eBay sellers include this in their listed price). Of course, you can also get a general idea of price by just doing a search for the brand and bag you are looking at (i.e. “Prada Bag”) and see what kinds of prices you get. That will at least give you an idea of whether the bag is cheap, expensive or in the middle.

You can probably find a better deal on the second hand market rather than buying a new bag. Since prices on eBay can sometimes be outrageous, you should also try to find local stores that sell used designer purses. Sometimes you can even find these stores online. Once you have a list of potential sources, just do a search for the exact brand and bag you are looking for along with the word “used” or “pre-owned” and see what kinds of results you get.

If you aren’t having any luck on the internet, you can always go to a local consignment shop and see if they have what you are looking for.

By doing a little research, you should be able to get an idea of what price range is fair for the bag in question.

2. Consider the seller.

While it is important to know the value of the bag you are wanting to buy, it is just as important to know the value of the seller since you don’t want to get ripped off.

Generally, sellers on eBay are easy to assess since they have a feedback score and you can check to see if they are in the PayPal system. If they are a Power Sellers (has a purple shield), has a super high positive feedback score (anything over 99% is good) and they are in the PayPal system, you can be fairly certain that you aren’t going to have any problems with them.

There are some sellers however that may have a low positive feedback score, aren’t Power Sellers and/or aren’t in the PayPal system. This doesn’t necessarily mean you should cross them off your list, there are a few things you should look out for. If a seller has a high positive feedback score but a low percentage (i.e. 80% positive), this could be an indicator that they have had problems in the past with buyers and have toughened their sale conditions.

This isn’t a sure fire sign that you shouldn’t buy from them, just something to keep in mind. If a seller has no feedback score at all, this is a major red flag. You are taking a chance with no protection whatsoever, so proceed with extreme caution.

If the seller does have a low positive feedback score or negative feedback comments, you can contact them to ask questions about their products, if they are honest and reputable they shouldn’t mind at all. If they seem reluctant to answer your questions or there is a language barrier (the seller isn’t in the United States), you might want to reconsider buying from them.

3. Check out the Item and the Seller’s Other Items

Always make sure that the photo of the bag on eBay is an actual photo of THE bag that you are going to receive. Some sellers will list several different bags but the picture will just be a stock photo that represents all the handbags they have for sale. Ask the seller to send you a picture of the actual bag you are purchasing before or after you buy it so you know for sure that it is the one you want.

If there isn’t a photo of the actual bag you can ask the seller if you can see it in person before buying (maybe they will let you buy it using PayPal’s “Purchase Protection” which is similar to eBay’s “Money Back Guarantee” but only if the seller is located in the United States).

You can also check out the seller’s other items to see if they have other brands that you like, this way you can buy everything at once since the shipping costs usually outweigh the price of the item.

4. Ask the Seller Questions

If you are still unsure about something or don’t know how an auction works, don’t be afraid to ask the seller questions. Check their user profile and see if they have listed their email or contact information.

You can also contact the seller through eBay’s messaging system, just explain to them briefly that you have a few questions about the bag.

5. Ask for More Pictures if You Need Them

If you still aren’t sure about the bag, ask the seller if they can take more pictures from different angles, inside and out. If they seem reluctant to do so, this might be a red flag!

6. Make Your Purchase!

Hopefully you have found the perfect bag and everything has gone smoothly. If not, just contact the seller and let them know that you would like to buy the bag but you have a few concerns first before you pay for it.

Once you are confident in your purchase, send over your payment through PayPal or write a check and mail it to the seller. Once they receive your money, the seller should send you the bag right away!
