Bento Lunch Boxes: What Are They?
A bento lunch box is a small container with food inside it. These containers are made out of plastic or metal and usually come in different sizes. Some of them have holes so that you can put something else into it when you eat. A good thing about these containers is that they are easy to clean since they do not need to be washed after use. You can even put them in the microwave to heat up your food. Most of these containers have different parts inside them so that you can separate the different kinds of food that you eat.
All in all, bento lunch boxes are an easy way to take your foods with you when you go places. They keep your foods safe and separate from each other so that they do not make a mess or get dirty.
Where Can You Get a Bento?
You can buy bento lunch boxes online or at specialty stores. There are many places that sell such containers, so you should not have any trouble finding one. You can also make your own bento lunch boxes if you want to save money. All you need is a container that can keep your food separate and a little creativity. It is important that you find something that works for you.
Why Does Everyone Use a Bento?
People use bento lunch boxes because they are convenient and keep your foods separate. You might not want to eat a salad with curry sauce on the same fork that had beef stir fry on it. Also, foods have different textures that require different eating utensils. For example, you might not want to cut your apple pie with a plastic knife. Getting a bento box will prevent these concerns and more from happening.
What Kind of Bento Lunch Box is Right for You?
You have a lot of choices when it comes to bento lunch boxes. Many of them come in different sizes and can hold different kinds of foods. You want to make sure that you get one that you will actually use since this is not something that you would probably use every single day. Here are some general varieties:
Plastic Bento– These are the most common type of bento box sold. You can get a bunch of different kinds that have compartments inside to keep your foods separate. These are great if you do not want to buy something very expensive.
Metal Bento– These are usually more expensive than the plastic ones but are very durable. Some people say that they are better at keeping the temperature of the food even though this may not be a problem if you use it properly. Metal bentos also look a lot nicer than plastic ones so they make for better gifts.
Lunch Bag– A lunch bag is not really a container but it is a good way to keep your foods from getting squished or making a mess in your backpack. These bags usually have sections inside of them to separate foods. You can find cheap ones or designer ones depending on your needs and budget.
Stacking Container– These are used for people that like to bring a lot of things with them. They have little sections inside of them so that you can divide up your foods. You can also take them out if you do not need all of the sections.
These containers are usually plastic or glass and come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Cool Pack– A cool pack is just like a lunch bag but is made out of insulating material. It can keep your food cool for a long time so you do not have to rush to eat it when you get to work or school. Some of these packs can even be frozen so that you can take frozen foods with you.
They make handy containers even if you do not need to keep your food cool or hot.
Lunch Tote– A tote is just like a lunch bag but it is bigger so that you can fit more things inside of it. They usually have designs on them or say something funny. They are not very practical for keeping your food from making a mess but they help you identify your food from others when you take your lunch with others.
What Should You Put in Your Bento?
You can put just about any foods into your bento. Most people use them for lunch but you can also use them for dinner especially if you do not like to cook. Just about anything that you can cook at home you can take with you in your bento so you have a variety of things to eat. Most people just use them for lunch though and here are some ideas of what you can put in your bento:
Soup– There are plenty of soups that you can purchase that are ready to eat right out of the container. Just grab a spoon and you are ready to go. These are great for bentos because they do not make a mess and are easy to dispose of.
Noodles– Most kinds of noodles can be taken just about anywhere. They are very cheap and easy to make as well. All you have to do is add boiling water and wait a few minutes and you are ready to go.
Sandwiches– What can be simpler than a sandwich?
If you are eating a sandwich at home you can easily take it with you in your bento the next day. Just wrap it up in some wax paper first so that it does not get your bag dirty.
Pies– Pies are great for bentos. You can usually find small pie containers that have sections in them to divide up the pie into sections for each slice. This is perfect for bentos but you can also freeze the rest of the pie for later.
Fruit– There are many kinds of fruit that can be taken on the go. Most of them do not make a mess and they are easy to dispose of as well.
You can put as much or as little in your bento as you want. Just remember the more you put in it, the heavier it will be. Experiment with different things to see what works best for you.
